Every school quarter, I spend the first week or two trying to decide how I am going to take notes. Pen and paper? Laptop? Audio recording? Ultimately, it depends on what works best for you to learn and to retain the information. Sometimes your learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, mixed) can provide a clue to the best way for you to take notes.
